There are 100 types of intestinal bacteria in the 100 trillion intestinal bacteria inhabiting the intestine. Out of these, 40 types are categorized as Good Bacteria, 30 types as Bad Bacteria and 30 types as Opportunistic Bacteria.

If the number of bad bacteria such as clostridium perfringens and coliform bacteria increases, health will be affected. On the other hand, if good bacteria such as lactobacillus and yeast are dominant, then good health will prevail. It has been found that one of the factors contributing to the rise in chronic diseases throughout the world relates to the increased dominance of bad bacteria over good bacteria.

Many scholars and researchers have pointed out that when bad bacteria dominate the intestine; constipation is worsened causing foul stool odor or gas (ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, indole and scatole) release, and skin roughening before it negatively affects the entire bodily functions such as the kidney, digestive and circulatory functions.

In short, to remain healthy, the "second kidney" - the intestine - has to be dominated by good bacteria. To achieve that, the intestinal flora must be well maintained and cultured.

Having attained both the status and reputation as a successful entrepreneur, the late Konosuke Matsushita - founder of Matsushita Electric Works - embarked on his visionary search for ways that will improve human lifespan. While doing so, he came to know Dr. Hisatoki Komaki who was a foremost figure in the study of microbial cultivation. Konosuke Matsushita later invited him to be the Special Advisor for Matsushita Electric Works Head Office under a special Bio-Agricultural Research Center which was set up within the company to launch into his research work.

At the end of the research, they came to the conclusion that "making the intestine healthy and improving the function of intestinal bacteria" are the factors that would produce the best results. The ultimate fruit of this special project was the creation of a unique food supplementation with 16 types of supreme strains of lactic acid bacteria and 24 types of yeasts, with patented Komaki Extract and Green Tea Essence; marketed under the name of "REFOULE" in Japan.

Lactobacillus, a good bacterium, is the bacterium commonly known to improve the functioning of the intestinal flora. However, it is an acknowledged fact that lactobacillus in yogurts or lactobacillus - containing foods taken orally is broken down by the pH-low gastric acid and the bile acid in the duodenum even before it reaches the intestine. To overcome this issue, Dr. Komaki came up with the following ideas.

Oil Dripping.jpg

"In the intestine, the growth of the lactobacillus is prospered by the yeast secretion and the growth of the yeast is prospered by the lactobacillus secretion. In other words, these two microorganisms co-exist and co-prosper on their respective secretion. If this is true, then what matters most is not the live lactobacillus, or yeast but its respective biomass component or better known as secretion. As the secretions cannot be broken down by the secretions into the intestine."

Having conceived this idea, Dr. Komaki then symbiotically cultivated 40 types of good bacteria, namely lactobacillus and yeast, by feeding them with Sativumin Complex, an odorless nutrient of garlic. He let their secretions to ooze freely and made that secretion into a drink. This rejuvenated ingredient component that is included in "REFOULE" is the award-winning "L16Y24 - Komaki Concentrate (Lactobacillus-Yeast) Secretions *".

Apart from the value-added and patented "L16Y24 - Komaki Concentrate Secretion", "REFOULE" also utilizes the particular strain of Bacillus Coagulans SANK 70258 (spore-forming lactic acid bacteria called LACRIS) derived from green wheat germ which are the "Lactobacillus Sporegenes". These spores which are isolated by Dr Nakayama exhibit superior thermal resistant, acid resistant and high stability properties will ensure the ingested lactic acid bacteria will survive the environment of stomach and duodenum, so that a sufficiently large number of them will reach the site of action intact to proliferate actively and endow with high lactic acid production.

"Lactobacillus Sporogenes" is also available as the component to improve the functionality of lactobacillus - yeast secretion. While it shares the same lactic acid secreting function like other various lactobacilli, it is different in certain areas. These differences include its capability to produce spores and its capability to withstand acid, heat, salt, and sugar in order to survive.

If lactobacillus sporogenes as spores are orally taken, the spores will germinate and secretes lactic acid in the intestine because it is able to withstand the strong acidity (pH 2) of the gastric acid to reach the intestine without being broken down. However, as lactobacillus sporogenes are not indigenous intestinal bacteria, it will be excreted in the stool after 7-10 days. Therefore, taking a consistent amount of lactobacillus sporogenes' spores daily is equivalent to having it as an intestinal inhabitant.

Another unique component for good intestinal flora is the catechin found in the blended component of "green tea extract and essence" which weakens the bad bacteria. Through its synergistic effect with the lactobacillus - yeast secretion, the intestinal environmental improvement is strengthened to eliminate bad body odor and foul breath for an improved grooming. At the same time, a comprehensive detox effect (detoxification and bowel cleansing) can be achieved by the addiction of citric acid, an organic acid that has intestinal regulation function to an intestinal environment where the blood pH is slightly alkalinized.
